My name is Jim.
As a photographer, I march to the beat of a different drummer. Though I've admired many studio portraits, I don't personally have much use for a studio. I like to capture a scene as my eye sees it in the moment. Some have said my work is 'quiet'.
The majority of what I shoot is done in black and white, it gives me the results I like. But I'm able to shoot color, as well. I like to say the earth is my studio, my light is natural. I've shot in sun, clouds, even using headlights in the middle of the night.
At this point, I shoot with film cameras exclusively; both medium format and 35mm. I plan to begin shooting with a larger format camera soon; however, this will not be available to use in commissioned projects until I've mastered it 'in the field', as I have my other cameras.
I studied photography formally, where I learned about apertures and depth of field. My real education has come from being 'in the moment' and capturing life as it is happening. This is my philosophy behind Art Film Photography. Whether I am photographing a portrait, pet or a tractor tire on a long forgotten farm, I capture life one frame at a time.
Though my pursuits mostly take me down the highways and byways, shooting whatever catches my eye on the moment, I am certainly available to shoot portraits for hire. I'm also available on a commission basis for photographs that aren't portraits. This includes architectural, scenics and more. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to collaborate on something.
Thank you for reviewing my website. Please feel free to contact me if I can help you.
